I've officially practice-packed and am ready to head south. It's amazing what one can fit into a backpack when it will be the sole carrier of everything necessary for 10 weeks of living in Central America!
Random recap: This summer, I will be working for a program in Costa Rica called Rustic Pathways. I will be a 'guide' for high school youth coming in from the US. My placement is in a program called Summer Camp Leadership - of which I'm pretty stoked about! In two weeks, I will help these students build team camaraderie and leadership skills that will help them to eventually put on a day camp for Costa Rican youth. (Not to mention white water rafting, rappelling down waterfalls, and zip-lining through the jungle...) So basically, I will be spending 10 weeks speaking Spanish, exploring Costa Rica, working at camp, and chillin' with some neat folk!
My hope is that I can blog my adventures so that not only can my mother keep her sanity knowing I'm alive and well, but also to share some of my random experiences, quirky thoughts, and (hopefully, somewhat) educational insights!
So, for whoever's out there - Thanks for stoppin' by! I'll be in touch when I reach my destination!

ReplyDeleteI stayed in LaFontuna also that is were I went zip-lining in the jungle at the valcano. You are staying in the are around Lake Arenal. It is great there. I can't wait to see some of your pictures.
Wow,,just from your descriptions, it sounds ridiculously gorgeous over there!!...i have to admit that i am a TAD jealous, but as i expected, you are going to have a great time there...i hope you are able to do pics soon, i'm looking forward to them! be safe and don't forget.... :)
