Dallas is swell.

Well, I've safely arrived in Dallas and have about 6 1/2 hours before my flight to San Jose. Alex has informed me that I may not have as much internet access as I once anticipated, but I'll do my best to be in touch!

It's almost surreal that my d-day has finally arrived. I'm excited for the many adventures I will encounter and all the Spanish I have yet to learn!

Hope ya'll are having a great weekend!

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.

5.23.10

I've officially practice-packed and am ready to head south. It's amazing what one can fit into a backpack when it will be the sole carrier of everything necessary for 10 weeks of living in Central America!

Random recap: This summer, I will be working for a program in Costa Rica called Rustic Pathways. I will be a 'guide' for high school youth coming in from the US. My placement is in a program called Summer Camp Leadership - of which I'm pretty stoked about! In two weeks, I will help these students build team camaraderie and leadership skills that will help them to eventually put on a day camp for Costa Rican youth. (Not to mention white water rafting, rappelling down waterfalls, and zip-lining through the jungle...) So basically, I will be spending 10 weeks speaking Spanish, exploring Costa Rica, working at camp, and chillin' with some neat folk!

My hope is that I can blog my adventures so that not only can my mother keep her sanity knowing I'm alive and well, but also to share some of my random experiences, quirky thoughts, and (hopefully, somewhat) educational insights!

So, for whoever's out there - Thanks for stoppin' by! I'll be in touch when I reach my destination!
